Ethernet Set Up For Windows 2000

1. Double-click on the My Computer icon.
2. Double-click the Control Panel folder to open it.
3. Double-click on the Network and Dial-Up Connection control panel.
4. Double-click on Local Area Connection.
5. Click Properties.
6. In the first window, under Connect using, you will see an entry for your brand of network card.
7. In the second window, under Components checked are used by this connection you should check the following entries:

• Client for Microsoft Networks
• TCP/IP Internet Protocol

If TCP/IP is missing:

• Click on Install.
• Select Protocol.
• Click on Add.
• Select TCP/IP.
• Click OK.

If Client for Microsoft Networks is missing:

• Click on Install.
• Select Client.
• Click on Add.
• Under Manufacturers, select Microsoft.
• Under Network Clients, select Client for Microsoft Networks.
• Click OK.

8. Check that you can only see your brand of network card, Client for Microsoft Windows, and TCP/IP. If any other items appear, select each item and click on Uninstall.
9. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Click on the Properties button.

In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window, select the radio button next to Obtain an IP address automatically. Select the radio button next to Obtain DNS server address automatically. Click on the Advanced button.
10. In the Advanced TCP/IP Settings window, click on the IP Settings tab. Confirm the settings as shown below:

11. Click on the DNS tab. Confirm the settings as shown below:

12. Click on the WINS tab. Confirm the settings as shown below:

13. A window appears telling you that you must restart your computer before the changes will take effect. Click Yes to restart your computer.
