Capital Planning & Construction Management

SUNY College at Old Westbury has grown and changed significantly since its first classes were held in 1968, and the needs of renovating and constructing buildings are overseen by the Office of Capital Planning.  Along with the buildings, other infrastructure developments are coordinated within this area.  Adding new water lines, fiber optics, electricity, and roads are coordinated between the College and various outside agencies, in collaboration with the State University Construction Fund.

Among the responsibilities included in capital planning/construction management are:

  • In-House project management
  • Archiving of building plans and campus maps
  • Building inventory information
  • Code compliance
  • Service as campus' State University Construction Fund liaison

Projects currently underway on campus include:

  • Renovation of the College Library (Phase 1)
  • Replacement of the Campus Center exterior envelope
  • Demolition of the Academic Village Core Space
  • Renovation of the Campus Center-H, I & K Wings
  • Improvements to the College's cogeneration plant
