The Circulation Department maintains the circulating book collection and the
reserve material. Loans of both of these are made at the circulation desk. All
borrowers must have a valid identification card in order to check out materials
from the circulation desk.
Borrowing privileges are extended to:
- Registered Old Westbury students with a valid identification card
- Old Westbury
alumni with a current Alumni Association card
- Current Old Westbury faculty
and staff
- Retired Old Westbury faculty
- Holders of valid identification cards from
Empire State College and other SUNY institutions
- Anyone with a valid referral
from the LILRC Research Loan Program
Limits
- A maximum of 20 books can be signed out per patron (except for Old Westbury
faculty)
- Patrons from other SUNY institutions or the Research Loan Program
are limited to a maximum of 5 books
- Loan period is 28 days (except for
Old Westbury faculty)
- One reserve item at a time may be used in the library
for a maximum of 3 hours per sign-out
Renewals
- Any book not requested by another patron may be renewed up to 3 times
- Non-overdue
books may be renewed by phone
- A renewed book is subject to immediate recall
Overdue Fines
- Twenty cents ($0.20) per book per day up to a maximum of $20.00 per book
- No grace period
- One dollar ($1.00) per hour, or part thereof, beyond the
maximum loan period of 3 hours for Reserve material
Fees
- For a lost or damaged book: cost of replacement plus a $10 processing fee
- For a lost or damaged periodical: current replacement cost
Loss of privileges
- Borrowing privileges will be suspended if more than 5 books are overdue
- A restriction will be placed on student records prior to pre-registration
when there are suspended privileges or unpaid debts
