The
office of Career Services provides
a variety of services and resources
to students. Its function is
to aid students in their employment
searches, major and career exploration,
as well as foster development
as upcoming professionals.
Individual
Career Counseling: A
career counselor is able to
see students one-on-one in
order to discuss and explore
concerns regarding a student’s
major & career
options, graduate school advisement,
job hunt or topics related
to career development.
Career
Assessments: If
you are confused or uncertain
about the major you would
like to declare, a career
counselor will meet with
you and if necessary administer
a career assessment. Assessments
point out an individual’s
skills, interests and personality
type in relation to various
occupations.
Workshops: Throughout
the semester, career services
workshops are offered in order
to provide students with essential
tips and advice that are needed
as they transition into future
professionals. Topics include:
Resume and Cover Letter Writing,
Interviewing Skills, Job Search
Strategies, etc.
Career
Services Events: During
the academic year, there
are several events that take
place. Annually, there’s
the Fall Graduate School Prep Series
and Spring Career Fair. Other events
include informational sessions,
guest-speaker workshops and
recruitment events which
take place in the Academic
Village.
Resources: There
are a variety of resources available
when you visit the Career Center.
For example, books and videos
regarding career exploration
and preparation. In addition,
graduate school, and GRE brochures,
as well as other guides are
available. Computer workstations
where students can work on their
resume or career related material
are accessible.
Career Services Online (CSO):
Attention students and employers! CSO is a computerized service that allows employers to post their job openings online. Students can now view part-time and full-time employment and internship opportunities through this customized website and post their resumes and cover letters.
