The First-Year Experience Program provides students
with the academic and personal support needed to succeed as first-year students.
All first-year students
take a First-Year Seminar course. These courses cover topics such as study
skills, career planning and time management, as well as allowing students
to engage in an in-depth analysis of a selected academic topic.
Open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the office invites students
to stop by, enjoy some light refreshments, and relax. There also is a Student
Resource Center with a rich collection of books and information sheets about
college, study skills and the first-year experience.
Along with its curricular components, the First-Year Experience program sponsors
a series of activities including a weekly film festival, monthly field trips,
three student clubs, and many special events including dances, contests, pizza
parties, and picnics.
