The roles of professionals within today's business community
- no matter the field of endeavor -- have been drastically altered by the
rapidly changing and increasingly complex business environment of today. The
of new technologies and the demanding pace of American business call for
accountants, bankers, investment managers, information professionals and marketers
provide added value.
Through its undergraduate and graduate degree programs, the School of Business
at SUNY College at Old Westbury seeks to answer that call.
The standards, curriculum and programs of the School of Business are offered
in line with the standards of the AACSB International, the Association to Advance
Collegiate Schools of Business to which Old Westbury is seeking accreditation.
A wide choice of courses prepares
you for the complexities of modern business practices, from accounting to finances,
Along with its degree-granting programs, the School is home to the Long Island
Institute for Finance, Business, and International Studies which offers conferences,
seminars and training courses for area businesses and trade organizations,
provides consulting services to meet specialized needs,
and conducts research into regional and global economic trends and issues.
As the SUNY business school on Long Island, Old Westbury prepares tomorrow's
business professionals to advance in or begin a wide range of careers through
the expertise of its faculty and innovation of its curriculum.
Admission to the School of Business
Because of its selective nature, the School of Business currently educates
only 800 students through its programs, ensuring small classes and face-to-face
interaction with members of its distinguished faculty. Those faculty members
are up-to-date on modern business conditions and practices. They are expert
communicators in the classroom and encouraging mentors away from the class.
All Admissions processes for entry into SUNY College at Old Westbury and its
more than 40 degree programs is conducted through the Office
of Enrollment Services. Admission to any of the academic departments within
the School of Business is an additional process students may seek after being
admitted to the College. Students may seek admission to the School of Business
after having completed at least 32 undergraduate credits. Full admission is
granted to students who have earned a cumulative grade-point average of 2.50
or above. Opportunities for provisional admission are available as well.
