incoming students must have Math
and Writing placements prior to
seeing an academic advisor. The
Academic Advising Center administers
placement exams where appropriate.
Math
Placement Exam
This
is a computerized test. Most
students complete the exam in
approximately 30 minutes, but
you can take longer if necessary.
You

Exemption:
Students
who fall into one of the following
categories are exempt from the
math test:
- Students
who have taken Regents
Math III or Math B and
scored a 75 or higher
on the Regents Exam.
- Students
who have taken College
Algebra, College-level
Precalculus, College-level
Calculus and/or College-level
Statistics.
However,
students who are majoring in
Business, Math, Math Education,
Computer Science or Natural
Sciences who have only taken
statistics and have not taken
College Algebra or higher will
need to take the Math Placement
Exam.
Writing
Placement Exam
Effective
in
June
2007,
Writing
Placement
Exams
were
eliminated
from
the
enrollment
process;
instead,
writing
placements
will
be
made
according
to
the
following
table:

that the Placement Exams must
be completed prior to advisement
and that an appointment is required
for the Placement Exams.

do I need to bring to the Placement
Exam?
You'll
need to bring a photo ID. You
may use a calculator for the math
exam. Bring a pen when you are
taking the English Placement Exam.
