“Dropping
a course” means
cancelling a registration
for a course by the end
of the “Drop/Add
period” in
the first week of a semester.
During the Late Registration/Drop/Add
period, students can add/register
for a course on-line (http://www.oldwestbury.edu)
For specific dates for
the Late Registration/Drop/Add
period, please check the
academic calendar.
Simply
not attending a course
doesn’t
mean that you have dropped
the course. Also, physical
presence in a course
doesn’t
mean that you are registered
in the course, even
though your instructor
recognizes your presence
and allows you to stay
in the course. Please
confirm your registration
in the Student Information
System (https://owsis.oldwestbury.edu/pls/prod/twbkwbis.P_WWWLogin).
Here
are some things to consider
when you think about
dropping a course:
- Should
you add another course?
- Can
you find another course to add?
Also
consider:
- impact
on your academic progress
- impact
on your financial aid,
- impact
on your health insurance
coverage
- impact
on your visa status
- impact
on your eligibility
for on-campus housing
If
you need help to understand
the consequences of dropping
a particular class, please contact
your advisor.
