Academic advisors should be knowledgeable about College policies and procedures,
Graduation Requirements, General Education Requirements and should be able to explain them to their advisees. Further, academic advisors should be able to refer students to appropriate entities such as departments, faculty, administrative offices and/or other student services. Advisors are responsible for responding to their advisees’ inquiries in a timely manner and for making an advising appointment available with each advisee every semester. Advisors should alert their advisees in each advising session about any missing requirements in General Education.
Academic advisors should gather information about their advisees’ academic progress by the mid-term and alert those in academic jeopardy to seek help.
