Patrick O'Sullivan
Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs
Every day, I am proud and excited to serve as Provost and Vice President for
Academic Affairs for SUNY College at Old Westbury. Mine has been an affiliation
of 30 years with this College, and I know well the value and strength of the
education it provides. As Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs,
I am responsible for the daily operations of the Division of Academic Affairs,
a team of professors and professionals who offer curricula that lead to more
than 40 undergraduate degrees and one graduate degree. Together, our School
of
Business, School of Education, and nine individual departments covering the
arts and sciences work to provide Old Westbury students with a strong foundation
upon
which their careers and lives can be built.
Among our most recent accomplishments
include the development of the College's
Master of Science in Accounting degree program, which debuted in Fall 2004,
and which will be followed shortly by the introduction of graduate programs
in taxation and finance. Chief among our current priorities are the ongoing
activities related to the College's progress in achieving accreditation
from the National Council on the Accreditation for Teacher Education and
the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business.
An original member of the College's business faculty when the program
was
initiated in 1975, I am a past recipient of the State University of New York
Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching. Along with my academic
responsibilities, I maintain active memberships in the National Association
of Business Economists, the American Economic Association, the American Finance
Association and the Eastern Economic Association.
Over the course of my 30 years here, and through all of my efforts today,
my goal remains the same - to obtain the most current, thought-provoking
and illuminating information available today and to work with my colleagues
to teach it to our students so they can discover their own leadership abilities
and move forward as successful, contributing members of society.
Ronald Welton
Assistant Vice-President for Academic Affairs
Currently the offices of the Registrar, Summer School and Continuing Education,
and the Wallace Art Gallery report to me. I coordinate all internships in
the division, serve as the primary liaison between faculty and students,
hold respnsibilities for the production of the College's catalog and course
schedules, and also chair the College's Retention Committee. I work with
the Vice President on personnel matters and also represent the Division on
General Education matters.
